What Cap to Use - Are they all the same?

Just wondering what cap I need for my system.

I have a 6.5" component set in the kick panels, 6.5" midranges in the door and a single 12" IDQ DVC sub. I'm running everyting with a single 5 channel 900 watt amp (Arc KS900.6).

How big a cap do I need....1F, 2F, 6F ?

Do I need a digital readout ?

All all caps created equal or is one make better (or worse) than the other.

you need NO CAPif anything get a larger battery

depending on yout alternator you may not even need a bigger batt since you arent running that much power
I would just try the big 3 for now. and possibly upgrade batteries

What are the big 3? What battery would you suggest.

My battery will be in the trunk. I'll be running 4 ga wire from the battery to the amp. The amp will be less than 3 feet from the battery.

 
what car do you have? I have a 2005 civic running 1500rms and i have a stinger battery, stinger 3 farad cap and stay above 12.5 volts at all times. stays between 13 and 14.4 while moving.

usually doing the big three (check the wiring section on the forum, theres a sticky about it) will probably work depending on the car but definitely consider a deep cycle battery and you should be fine.

i like my cap cause it does help, i like the digital readout, and it acts as a distribution block. you dont have that problem cause ur running a 5 channel but thats why i like mine.

I have a 89 Camaro. My optima deep cycle battery will be relocated to the rear area above the passenger rear tire where the spare tire used to be. I need to run the car and stereo off one battery.

All my power will be 4 ga Streetwires Ultraflow wiring. All my speaker wiring will be Streetwires 12 ga Ultracable.

Is a Kinetic HC800 better than an Optima blue top deep cycle battery?

350 v8 I'm asuming in the Camaro? Just get a bigger alt, they're pretty cheap for that motor. You should be find with that blue top, though. You could always add a Kinetik battery, too.

Are you experiencing voltage drops?

sure it wouldnt hurt but from what im reading hes running >900 rms so an alt probably isnt needed.

honestly though just upgrading your starting batt would probably be fine. im running 1500rms and i just replaced my starting batt with the stinger battery and everything is great.

Sorry if this seems like a basic question.

I'm going to upgrade the wiring and ditch the cap idea.

If I have any issues I'll upgrade the 105 amp. alternator first and go from there.
