does anyone have any opinion, idea or recommendation please feel free to comment

i run the same woofer with the cf dustcap and all. recently i have been playing a lot with boxes. i ended up with 2.5 cubes gross with 32 sq. inches of port at 14" long. by far the best sounding one i have had. note shifts were well defined and stable and the woofer had much greter range. the other box that i was running before that was 2.45 net, with 28 sq inches of port at 16" long. it got way nasty down low, but didnt have what i wanted up top. thats also with about 1100 watts on it.

I had some DD subs... tuned to DD specs, and they sounded like crap, extremely peaky response, and no low end...

I tuned them lower, and they then ofcourse played lower, but didn't have much output, as they are such inefficient woofers.

basically, DD say to tune to 40Hz, because their woofers are so extremely inefficient, and the only way you'll get any kinda output from them is to tune stupidly high.

tuned at about 35 hz i was putting up higher 140s at the drivers head on music.

what woofer did you have, what amp, and what were the enclosures specs?

two DD9510's, DDZ1, DD recommended box, whatever the hell that is.
it sounds like you picked the worse woofer possible for what you wanted. you picked a woofer that has one job, to get nasty. if you tuned it lower, ouput is going to go down with these woofers. i wouldnt go any lower than 38 hz. it sounds like you had some major box issues.

no, I had some major woofer issues, they are crap!

good for SPL, but bothing else...

EXTREMELY bad sound quality...

oh well, they're sold now :p

actually the 9500s are one of th most efficient woofers on the market... hence they break records.....

2nd the 10s are simply very over motored... they won't do anything but get loud above about 50hz... thats what they are designed to do.. the 15s are a bit different... they actually can sound nice at low to medium volumes... you can also get them with softer suspensions for lower tunings.... I'm not going to argue with you just tell you you really did pick the WRONG woofer for the application...9500s don't sound bad in the correct alignment...
