What box for deeper bass ?

It looks to me like the sealed doesnt have nowhere near the drop off as the ported........flatter low end response.

although a sealed can play 10hz, a human ear can barely perceive under 20hz.

My choice would be go ported tuned between 25-30hz. many songs out there will not play under 25hz.

He said he wanted the box with the deepest bass, not the loudest.....that would be sealed. I have yet to hear in my 20yrs of car audio experience a properly built ported setup sound better than a properly built sealed setup.

my port goes pretty darn low and gets loud doing it. to me, that sounds better.

Say what???? No thats not right.......sealed will play lower period. Ported plays down to the tuning frequency loud and then rolls off sharply. A sealed sub drops all the way to 10Hz. A ported wont do that. Ported boxes are loud down to whatever the box is tuned to........if he wants to go 30hz tuning.......frequencies from 30hz-50hz or so will be loud.......below that.....no.

Sealed will always play lower correct.

A ported box will have more low end extension(low end output).

I know he was not concerned about output, but it was worth mentioning.

OK.....lets drop the 20yr experience thing. Deep bass is noticing that your sub plays LOWER notes. Notes that you couldnt hear or feel with the ported box.

I was really able to tell with my sub by playing some Jazz music, NOT hip-hop or rap, but Jazz......the string bass dropped low on my ported setup, but sealed......it dropped off the map. The bass sounded so much deeper and richer, instead of the rumbling loud bass.

Oh well, dont want to beat a dead horse.
