What are your thoughts on stetsom amps?

It is physically impossible to pull 1200 amps through a single run of 1/0.
Answer me this, would you run the 14k with a single run of 1/0 in your vehicle?

Pretty simple. For voltage drop of less than .5 volts, a single one foot run of 0 gauge can handle nearly 5000 amps.

If you have this near the battery bank, which you need to support the amp, then you will have a short run.

Singe 1/0 input/output is fine.

People throw fits about these, but it's not a big deal. You can pull plenty of current for daily through these. If you have to do 15' runs, then you bring in several and reduce it, as others have done.

I'm not talking about voltage drop, I don't really care about that in this argument. What I'm concerned with is thermal issues...can the wire thermally handle 1200 amps going through it? I've been looking for some sort of heat buildup conversion calc or equation that will show you how hot the sire gets depending on size/length/voltage/current being passed though it...no luck.

Also, Thors new 14k failed on him as well...I'm interested to see what the issue is this time.

Stetsom might just wanna stick to leaving their bigger power amps(5kw and above) in just burp vehicles and just run ones under that power rating for daily. I've heard of an awfully large amount of people blowing up the 7kds and up not, especially with all the recent comps and testing for finals.

For the length of wire, the current won't be an issue. Of course it's best to keep it as minimal as possible, but for a length of a few inches, the heat can be handled fine. I don't have a conversion, or an equation, but I will try to find one.

IT seems like Thor might not have enough battery to support it for bassrace. I browes'ed through his thread and only saw a couple of pic's where i could see some batteries and it looked like he only had two or three in the trunk. i could have just missed it though

That is what is making alot of people question them and Sound Digital amps. Because of the size of the board and single terminals for the huge power they put out. I've heard both companies try to explain it and it just confuses the hell out of me lol. There are a ton of people out there that run amps from both companies, and they are more than proven to put out monster power numbers.
The reps and employees of course will say great things about them, so try to find independent owners and talk to them about their "real" opinions on them.

i know someone that used to run SD but is now switching BACK to zenon based boards to get loud again... lulz

you guys need to remember the price on these will HIGHLY limit the customers.. Main reason they don't sell much also

my honest opinion on these is, I ran the 7kd's for both burp and music, had nothing but luck, pretty efficient for the power it put out, so I guess on my end I would only recommend them, or at least the 7kd I would. I would imagine the rest of the line to be as good?
