What are your thoughts on stetsom amps?

With the 14kw amp having a single 1/0 input, I see three possible situations.
a) The amp doesn't make near rated power, so the single 1/0 input is fine.

b) The amp internally is capable of making rated power, but the single 1/0 input restricts current flow and you'll have a hard time keeping voltage up and not burning up the wire.

c) Stetsom really is made by Jesus himself and he made it to where the amps can defy the laws of current consumption in relation to power output.

This for sure... I'm by no means a Stetsom or SD nuthugger, but how do u explain this -

8 15" DC 4xl, 4 Stetsom 11K2Ds, and 8 Powermaster D3100s... 161.8 bassrace

I'd like to see how everything is wired up. If he has 10 runs of 1/0 to the back and two runs of 1/0 going to each amp with a 2 to 1 reducer with 3" of wire going to the amp, then I don't really see that as having a single run of 1/0, and just proves the fact that the single 1/0 input is not enough to power the amp to it's potential. I'd hardly consider it a normal situation that the average consumer would be in.

All the ampacity charts Ive just looked at rated 1/0 power cable at around 175 amps maximum power transmission. A 14kw amp is capable of well over 1000 amps of input current. Even 4/0 isn't rated nearly that high, and would take multiple runs to remain within their allowable current ratings. This is one thing Ive wondered how high powered SPL guys handle, as even a large amp like that having 2 input power terminals would be insufficient.

Where is it stated that they aren't pulling the amperage needed. the 14k has a power consumption rating over 1200 amps

I know it's not a normal situation by any means, just wanted to find a reason to post up that vid lol. Their setup is absolutely insane by any means and i can't wait to see what they do at WF this year.

The majority of the ppl that run the 11kd or 14kd i've seen have the connectors with multiple runs that plug into the terminals. I saw a pic of Craig Butlers van and it has like 8 or so runs into each amp.

last i check that rating for 0 guage was for a length of 15' so if your running this amp your not going to have it that far from your battery bank

and we are arguing over something that is meaningless the op I doubt is going to sell many 14k's most people off the streets are not going to walk in and purchase one for daily driving. it was built for the lanes with large battery banks on hand and a short lead from that bank to the terminal

It is physically impossible to pull 1200 amps through a single run of 1/0.

Answer me this, would you run the 14k with a single run of 1/0 in your vehicle?

I highly doubt anyone purchasing an amp like that won't just have a single run, regardless if there's only one terminal there. Like you said before people would be smart enough to only have a couple inches of single run before a connector with 2 runs or more coming off of it.

i never liked the looks of the stetsom internals , always look real messy/sloppy assembly . . never had one installed so cant comment on perfromance . . and you would think a amp rated @14K would havea t least dual 1/0 inputs , but meh . . .

I have seen a few of these amps and think they perform pretty well. I have been speaking with a rep to carry the brand, but wanted to hear some other opinions. Don't hold back give me the good and the bad. Thanks guys
Only ones I have had personal experience with is one of Dante's old 7k's, it was modded, but would play down into the 10.?'s volt And the 4k2, which sounded alright. The 7k version was a little big in my opinion.....

LMAO THIS^^^^ good one ryan //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Pretty simple. For voltage drop of less than .5 volts, a single one foot run of 0 gauge can handle nearly 5000 amps.

If you have this near the battery bank, which you need to support the amp, then you will have a short run.

Singe 1/0 input/output is fine.

People throw fits about these, but it's not a big deal. You can pull plenty of current for daily through these. If you have to do 15' runs, then you bring in several and reduce it, as others have done.
