I deliver pizza. Tonight I took a delivery to a place that doesn't show up in the computer so management has to fudge the address so we can take the order. That's all well and good but to fudge the order they put in our stores address which give the driver .8 miles for mileage. We get paid mileage to help with gas. My Jeep is such that they pay me 33 cents per mile. I tell them I will reset my GPS and let them know the exact mileage when I return. They say ok. 11 miles was the number. I tell them, they say no, the computer says it is 8 miles round trip. I say the computer is wrong, I took the most direct and only route via the public roads and it is EXACTLY 11 miles round trip. They say well we can only pay you what the computer says. I told them that they are stealing from us then because the computer is WRONG, I have proof because my GPS shows the EXACT door to door mileage. They say show us. So I grab my GPS, turn it on and show them. I said see? They still said no and said they would speak to the owner and see what he says. At this point I am pissed because they are most likely f*****g us on most deliveries. Then I drop my GPS, crack the f*****g screen and $135 later I have a new damn GPS. f*****g assholes. That's $.99 on that run they fucked me out of... if they do that every run all night long that 10's of dollars and or more every day, couple hundred every month potentially a couple of grand each year. Mother f**k!!

Why do you continue to do this type of work then? Of course it isn't handed to you, but decent jobs are out there

What I was wondering. Get a manufacturing job. It typically pays fair to well, depending upon experience. I've been into mfg since outta high school and just now I'm finally making good $$, hourly rate, I should have been making long ago. Hard to leave a company I've been with for 13 yrs and start all over someplace else. Oh sure I can def make more, but who knows how long that will last (laid off) and I got 2 kids to support.

People tend to say that African Americans are bad tippers or don't tip well. So I took it upon myself to do an experiment over 4 days at work. My findings showed that... hold a sec, let me grab my findings...

Day 1, Wed Feb 27th. - 17 deliveries in total. 4 African Americans (1 tip) 13 Everyone else (12 tips)

Day 2, Thurs Feb 28th. - 13 deliveries in total. 7 African Americans (0 tips) 6 Everyone else (6 tips)

Day 3, Fri Mar 1st. - 22 deliveries in total. 10 African Americans (1 tip) 12 Everyone else (11 tips)

Day 4, Sat Mar 2nd. - 19 deliveries in total. 1 African American (0 tip) 18 Everyone else (18 tips) This ONE African American delivery was a late order of nearly $50 at 10:56pm (we closed at 11pm) and was delivered AFTER WE CLOSED and he went out of his way to write a 0 with a line through it for my tip. I looked at him and said "Really? You placed a late order of almost $50, make me use my gas to bring it to you after we closed and you are going to stiff me on a tip?" he closed the door in my face.

For these findings I was called a racist, told that my post was racist, I was called other names... I went on to do other research including finding a study done by a major university that confirmed my findings and what other people also say. It is what it is... some people look for a reason to show how sensitive or ignorant they are.

I'm white and I wouldn't tip you.   I can't stand how people get jobs that rely on tips then ***** about not making any money cause no one tipped them.  Here is a tip. Get a job that doesn't rely on tips.

Because tips are considered part of our wages and we are paid according to that fact. Waiters, Waitresses, Pizza Delivery drivers all make LESS than the standard federal minimum wage because it is expected that we will be tipped. Not just by us the employees but by our employers and the federal government. That's why you should tip us for doing our jobs.
