what am i doing wrong?

I got my epicenter in not to long ago and no matter what I do I get a puk puk sound when the bass hits. This is my settings on my amp,crossover,HU and epi.

The sweep is set all the way to the left and the wide is set all the way to the left. The Internal settings are set to 10 volts (option for 2.5, 5, and 7.5) the pfm subsonic filter is set to 33 Hz (I need this to be set lower). on the amp the input sensitivity is set to 0.3(max) the db gain is set to zero and the fq is set to 25hz the subsonic filter on the amp is off and the phase is set to 180* on the external cross over the db level is set to zero the low pass fq is set to 40hz (lowest) the fq Hz is set at 25(lowest) the main gain is set to half on the crossover also. on the head unit the loud button is off the bass is set to -7. The sub is rated to 1000rms watts and the amp is only pushing 850rms.

You don't mention at what volume level you hear the Puk sound. If I understand the way you have your settings you are sending a maxed out line driver signal (10volts) to your amp and you have the gain (sensitivity) on the amp maxed out. You could be overdriving your amp and sending a very large clipped signal to the subs. Try setting the gain on the amp to it's minimum setting and see if that helps at all. There may be other issues with some of your other settings. Try turning the gain down first and let us know if it helps at all.

I get the puk sound when the volume is around 15 the max volume on my head unit is 37. it sounds like the sub bottom out.it says in the directons to set the internal switch to 10v if the sub is bigger than 12".

yeah i did turn it down today much cleaner but now i have to turn the head unit way up to hear anything from the sub and i have to turn the epi nob all the way to the right.

i also set the internal setting back to 5v

Sounds like you are making progress. Your original post is hard to read. Are you using the crossover on the amp, the head unit, or an active crossover? It looks like, from your original, post you may be using more than one crossover which is not good. So, what crossover are you using and what are the settings?

my amp dont have a cross over it just has bass boost level (db) the lpf Frequency (hz) and Input sensitivity set to lowest also. The Isf is off and the Phase is set to zero. am usung an external boss bx55 crossover everything is set to the lowest except the sub output level that is set to half and the head unit is a pioneer 4900ib. http://www.pswcentral.com/ViewProduct.asp?ModelNumber=BX55

If "everything" on your crossover is set to minimum settings you may have the crossover point too low. Try setting the crossover point somewhere around 80-100HZ and see how it sounds.
