What brought about the creation of the constitution? Excessive taxation, and taxation without representation. Perhaps I was going a bit over board saying its unconstitutional, as I dont believe the constitution specifically states anything about controlling the population through taxation of substances and acts they deem unhealthy but are unable to pass laws to abolish. Would you feel better if I replaced the word 'unconstitutional' with 'unfair'? The point was, if you want to discuss setting precedents, do we really want to give our govt the right to simply tax anything they want out of reasonable existence? What is next? Taxing internet porn out of existence? And then taxing your second baby? How about taxing chocolate and big macs out of existence? Dont let politicians tax something out of existence that they cant abolish lawfully. THAT is a horrible precedent. How is it unconstitutional to make it illegal, or tax it?
