what a burning coil sound like?

i dont see how its even possible i would be burning a coil...i mean all the settings are exactly the way they were when i set my gain with the dmm EXCEPT for the custom eq....unless this can casue clipping?

but like i said its not a bad smell...

yes a custom eq can cause clipping very easily.. +3db = double the power. +6dbs = double the power of +3dbs.. ect..

When you set your gains, I suggest you set your EQ to where you listen to it, rather than set your gains then go crank up the bass, pretty much defeats the purpose of setting gains.

hmm well my sub doesnt get very loud unless i make some changes to the custom eq...why would that be? i mean i have a custom ported box tuned to 37 hz fb.

i always heard to set gains with eq on flat then after that go into custom and tune to your liking? this is wrong? kinda like the way this says:

like i said before, coils burning smell like bandaids.. its a unique smell and it is noticeable, but i kinda see how it could get confused with wood

play it as loud as it goes before clipping? lol it might not even be clipping.. even tho alot of ppl say type r's on 1k watts ect.. i've heard others say 750-800 watts is their max

ok i read it...i only have 500rms goin to the sub so wouldnt usin the custom eq and dialing in more bass be fine? man i rreally just wish i new if i was burning coils or not...its too hard to tell

yea but you can only go about 2 db's higher.. on any of the settings from flat... which might not even be an audible difference
