Well, looks like I'm getting a new, free laptop

Actually, one time I got a guy who was in oklahoma, so it's not all too bad. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
That was the only bad experience I had though. The rest of the guys were all pretty helpful.
must have accidentally pressed the sales extension they make sure that you talk to somebody who actually speaks english when they are about to take your money lol

Honestly, I have no idea how this is going to work. Apparently they are going to send me a new laptop and I'm going to send the old one back after I'm satisfied that the new one is functioning properly.
I guess I'll find out how this is all going to work on saturday. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They want the old one back, but I'm getting a new version for free. A new version of mine is going to cost double what I paid for this one.

I believe that you are thinking too much into this. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
so you're just gettin a free upgrade, basically

Basically, yes. But its going to be an all new laptop and not just repairing mine.

It's new, and not costing me anything, therefore "new, free" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I cant understand them half the time.. check minus from me for sure. There tech here is an idiot too. Got him fired for his ignorance. I had next day at home service. I setup appt and he skips it saying hes sick. I see him that night at a concert , so i called dell and got his *** fired for skipping out on me.
also the 2nd tech they sent out here screwed up one of my trim pieces, so i called dell and they sent me one that said inspiron, so i complained ( i have an xps ) told them if they were sending me an inspiron plate to send me the difference in my xps to inspiron in $$$ lol
They drove me crazy around Christmas. My wife had ordered a laptop for my kids. They took so long shipping that my wife's office (where we asked that it be shipped) was closed. She requested that it be re-routed to our home. Just on a whim, I went by the local DHL on the way home. Sure enough, they had it there but could not give it to me because Dell had put a hold on it. I called Dell, and they confirmed that they had placed the hold on it -- and that it would take 5-7 days to remove the hold. Of course that is no good because it is after Christmas.

I kept asking why it would take that long and the Indian kept responding that we had changed the destination address. I kept telling him I understood that, but what the hell were the going to do for 5-7 days. What was going to change during that period? I asked to speak to a manager and I swear I think it was the same guy I was talking to earlier. I finally got them to agree to release the hold, but by then the DHL shop had closed.

In short, I was pwned by an Indian. Maybe more than one.

Nope, he was a tech guy because he actually did one of the dell connect things where they can control your computer from their location.

Pretty neat shit actually. He was trying to find out the error codes and crash history and every time he would get far in figuring out what it was the computer would crash again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Definitely a funny time.

Well if they replaced the mobo last time then you basically got a new laptop then as well. Not much else to a laptop after the mobo lol.

dell XPS customer service and the complete care warranty > anything
seriously.
My wallet > me.

If I could afford one, I would get one. Unfortunately it would be a waste of money since all I use the laptop for is the termlab and when I'm in hotels at weekend shows.

i guess the processor, ram, and video card are all after thoughts then?
Video is generally hardwired into the mobo. CPU and ram are hardly the problem and can be quickly fixed. If those were the issues it would be fixed by now. I'd hardly consider this whole scenario a positive because he is getting a new laptop. IMO they better give him a new lappy along with some coupons and shit for the time invested in the sack of shit they sent him.

It should have been properly fixed the first time. If it was CPU or mem and they overlooked it the first go around, I'd be livid at this point.

I'll be sure to make myself clear that I'm completely frustrated over the situation when he calls on saturday and state that I want an UPGRADED version of what I have now. Hopefully it works.

2-3 months of phone calls and problems has been a pain in my ***. I pretty much have everyone at Dell baffled as to why my laptop keeps f*cking up and there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Every diagnostic tool I ran came up empty, which ended up confusing everyone even more.

i have never gotten the BSOD on my computers. ever. i just dont get all the BSOD jokes people say //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
