welding cable better then car audio wire

I just got done installing 1/0 welding cable in my gfs car for her amp and big 3 upgrade. I had a little left so I redid my big 3 upgrade with the welding cable. I had 1/0 rockford wire in it before. With the welding cable I am not noticing any drop in voltage unlike the rockford i would see between .2-.5 drop in voltage.

long story short, im just throwing it out there that welding cable>rockford wiring (maybe most car audio wire?) IMO. Its also alot cheaper. $55 for 25ft 1/0 welding cable and the rockford was about $50 for 20 ft.

in before the pwnage. any change in voltage you notice is due to better grounding.

i grounded to the same spot. the old wire was pretty dirty from winter driving in the snow and that goddam mag chloride shit they put everywhere, that might have had an impact

to me it looks like the Fosgate 1/0 is smaller then most car audio wire. they us awg standards to measure their wire while most other car audio 1/0 wires if measured in awg would by considered 2/0 wire.

possibly. I didnt think of comparing 2 ends of the wires until i had already installed but the welding looks a little thicker

where can you buy welding cable?? is it harder to work with?
welding supply shops and yes its a ***** to work with, my first install I used the ULTRAflex 1/0 and it was so hard to run. I installed with kicker 1/0 one time, and won't go back to the other stuff ever again

I got it from AirGas. You can pick it up at a welding supply shop. There's different kinds, from stiff to ultra flex. The price range was only like $0.50 total between stiff and ultra flex so i got ultra flex and it was easier to work with then the rockford wire. Its a soft rubber covering instead of that hard plasticy rubber on the rockford wire

there are tons of different types of wire.. the weilding wire is good stuff. free air rating is 260 if you do multiple runs it drops about 20% so 450 or so for 2 conductors. also with that much current its good too keep it isolated from othe electronics..

well i plan on ripping up my carpet and just running it straight back so only problem i might have is with the B 3..but any easy ways to drill through firewall? i am not trying to to hit any wires and i cant find any pre drilled holes in the celica.
