weird V dips

ive posted bout this b4, but didnt get a helpful answer. so im trying it again.

98 Blazer 4.3L

180 HO alt from MCR

Optima YT under hood

BIG 3 done in all 0awg

Now i have some kinda problem with the V dropping. At idle, its about 11.5v, as i accelerate it climbs to 14v. if im driving and i throw it in nuetral, the RPMs drop to 700, but my V doesnt drop back down.

When i am at a light/stop sign and i have my signal on, the needle jumps up and down about 1v. and it somewhat rapidly gets the V down to about 10v. but without the signal on its at 11.5v.

my amps dont seem to make it any worse. my 300/4 does nothing to it. and my 1000/1 (my last amp, its sold now) made the lights dim pretty nice, but the V didnt dip to severely. i have a merlin md2 on the way and i expect some major dips from that.

so my problem is the signal affecting V, and the lower V at idle. any1 got any idea whats going on here and how to fix it? TIA

most likely the voltage regulator that motor city reman put in is crap.

Their alts are generally not up to par //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

are you using a DMM to check the voltage drops, or relying on the stock voltage gauge. if you're using the stock gauge, then double check it with a meter or a voltage gauge worth a crap before worrying about it... the stock ones don't usually tend to be very accurate... especially in gm's

the thing is, it did this with my stock alt too.

and i did test it with a DMM a while ago. i feel like i remember it reading higher than the instrument cluster gauge, but the lights dim too so i dont understand that. ill double check with my DMM soon. its snowing now, so i cant but maybe tommorrow.

The probly is MCR...
Friend of mine had the regulator on his shit out as well. MCR sucks...balls.

I mean...look what's in their name REMAN...heh.

NG

every time they pop up in a thread.. I recommend against getting one. People never listen, most likely because they're so cheap.

but my stock alt did the same thing
and the MCR i had for my 92 blazer worked fine
Could be corroded wiring too. track down all the lines leading off of the Alt and the Batt. Trace them to the final destinations and make sure they are tight and trouble free. I know this sounds like a pain.. but no amount of new batteries or bigger alts will solve your problem if your wiring is crap throughout the car.

theres SOOO much freaking wire. i couldnt follow it all. any way to test it with like a DMM or something?

i got it tested today at autozone. the guy said he thinks i got a bad v reg too. b ut he reeeealy didnt seem like he knew what he was doing. and he didnt even mention the V reg until i said it.

but i got a 260amp iraggi on the way now anyways
