weird stolen sidekick question

bro if its a sim card your good dont worry. do a master reset on the phone and just do what u gota do bro. u will have to go to lets t-mobile take there bs free phone and your good to go. done deal.... i was kinda messin around back in the day with some shit trust me your fine.

then sign up for a contract, they will give you a new one for free...
that makes sense when i have a contract and a simcard. just a broken phone.

for all i know this phone could not be stolen but its just the type of guy and the fact that he happens to have a extra sidekick.

 
a gsm provider can block the IEMI of equipment issued by them so the phone will not work. For example if tmobile is notified the phone is stolen they can block it so that when a tmobile chip is in it it will not work. Theoreticallythe gsm provider can also identify the number of the new chip that was put into a phone by the IEMI being regitered on their network and in principal contact the subscriber. This does not mean that an ATT or other gsm sim chip will not work though.

if the phone was not bought through a provider and is unlocked this would not be much of an option.
