weird stereo system problem - help!

hey guys, running into some weird issues in my truck and i'm hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction of a fix!

the system consists of a pioneer headunit, cdt components in the doors, jl subs, and a 4 channel alpine amp powering everything.

the system has been running fine for about a year. recently, i got in my truck, turned it on, and heard no sound. i checked all the connections on the amp to make sure nothing got unplugged, and everything was fine. it just didnt power on. i was in a hurry, so i didn't spend much time with it. a couple days later, after not turning the power on to the headunit, i turned it on, and heard sound! it lasted until i turned the truck off to get gas, then wouldnt work again. 95% of the time, it doesn't work. but every so often, when i power on the headunit, the amp gets power and i hear sound for a few minutes.

this has been going on for a few weeks now, and it's really got me confused. i've checked connections on the remote wire behind the dash, the power at the battery, etc. everything seems fine. has anyone run into this problem before? what could it be?

I believe your Memory wire ( constant power ( ACC ) ) - is malfunctioning. Or in other words, goin' bad. ... Connect the Yellow wire ( ACC ) to a 12v constant fuse in your fuse box and see if that helps.

Ceck to make sure that the remote wire for amp turn on is putting out 12V. If it isn't due to a loose connection or a short somewhere, the amp will not turn on reliably.

so if the remote wire isn't putting out 12v, then how do i fix it?

Go to a relay. Hook the constant power tab on the relay to a constant 12v source and wire the remote to the trigger lead.

Check your head unit to see if it's putting out 12V when the radio turns on. Might just need to re-wire the remote wire. If the HU isn't putting out the proper power, you can hook the remote wire up to your ignition power wire, but you probably just have a short or loose connection in your remote wire. Check and make sure it still has a good connection with your amp also.
