Weird shaped box

I was just wondering how much space you had to have for air movemet inbetween two boxesV This picture will hopefully explain it better than i can i words (sorry i just made it up in gimp really quick, it's not to scale either.).

I'm looking at have a space of 37.5 x 3 to 5 inches will this be enough? How small short can it be? Thanks

Ported or sealed? If it's sealed it will be fine. If ported it *might* act a little funny depending on where the port is.

it's going to be sealed i have a 1.3^3 box now but i would ike to go up to about 2^3. will a 37.5 x 3 inch gap be enough?

i see, well i'm going to stick with sealed for my daily driver. i think 2^3 for a 12 L7 should be nice. I plan on building a ported box (thats square) this summber for comps.
