weird *** inverted excursion problem?

hey guys i have a weird *** problem

current setup -

audiocontrol lc8i

AQ2200 @ 2ohms

DB drive plwd412 (rated 1000rms)

jl 300/4

polk mm650 components

optima red - cranking

optima yellow - trunk

not only have i been dealing with clipping issues

BUT

it seems as if the sub is being ****** IN instead of being pushed out like normal excursion?!?!?!?!?!

it hasn't been doing this forever.. and I'm not new to car audio and I'm not crazy either... lol

i will post a video soon but it is ******* the sub inward to the point that it is folding/creasing the foam surround and obviously bottoming out..... i have the sub correctly wired up.. voice coils are in parallel @ 2ohms

i took an HD video with my phone and it looks like the cone is very wobbly like the spider is severely ripped or something but to the ***** eye it looks normal (except for the inverted excursion)

oh and the wobble in the video is because of the frame rate on the camera the subs isn't doing that.

and if the sub is currently IN phase and i wire it OUT of phase to test, with 1600rms won't it be fairly easy to smoke this sub?

my AQ2200 has direct leads for each VC... + + / - - unless I'm totally nuts I'm 100% positive i have wired the sub directly from the amp correctly......

Unless you have a shared space with two subs, the phase should not damage anything. If you are out of phase and switch the + and - wires at the amp it will make the sub push out instead of **** in. Really, I don't think there would be an audible difference.

If you have each VC going to the amp, try jumping them in the box and then going to one + and one -. Could be something to do with it. Ive always wired my VC's together in the box then only have two wires going to my amp, regardless of how many inputs there are, being a mono amp.

No youre right I know what you mean by "*******" in. But Ive had subs bottom out wired in phase. Thats what happens when you have a large sealed box and lotsa powa LOL

No. As was already stated, speakers are designed to go both ways. Think about the signal they are receiving, it's essentially a sine wave which has both positive and negative polarity segments.

If your suspension is extremely saggy and the coil exits the gap rearward then the driver can leap out of the gap rearward and then move with a rearward bias -- meaning the movement can be centered around a point that is behind center... but it will still move both ways.
