Weird Internet Connectivity Issue

Ok so I connect to the internet on my laptop at 3 locations:

1. My Apartment

2. At school

3. At my parents house

When Im at school my computer is fine and internet works as good as can be.

When Im either at home or at my parents house, my computer starts up, runs the internet for 10 minutes, then loses connection. Its always 10 minutes. The only way to resume connection is to restart computer.

I dont think its the provider because I have a different one than my parents do and my g/f's computer stays connected all day long at the apt.

What else can it be? Its driving me insane?

I have Comcast internet at apt, parents use at&t u-verse.

I use Avast for anti-virus but seems to be expired now (says cant update, I had trial, but appears to be operating).

Is it the anti-virus? Is it something else?
