Weird DMM reading for Dual 6 ohm sub

I have a dual 6 ohm sub and today I went and check to see what the impediance reading would be per coil with my dmm, for some weird reason i'm getting 2.4 ohms on each voice coil and when wired up in parallel I'm getting 1.5 ohms. Does anyone know why I would be getting this reading ?

Its a visonik V159D6 competition series subwoofer, 700rms dual 6 ohm, 3'' 4 layer coils with a 190oz double stacked magnet. It works perfectly fine and I have only been using it for around 2 months. I also checked a old school kicker L5 15 dual 4 ohm and one coil reads 3.8 ohms and the other reads 5.3 ohms. I know my DMM works because I just checked a bunch of doides and resistors on 3 different amps.

first of all you are reading the dcr of the coils not the nominal impedence

you don't....it is a rating given by the manufacturer that is close but not exact. Its kinda like them saying you bought a 42" plasma but when you measure it at home its real only 40.9".

but something still doesn't sound right on your readings....i would suspect its either not a dual 6 or your meter is wacked

sounds like a coil is going on the L5 though.

I know its not my dmm I just got a new one yesterday and I have checked other things with it and it works perfect.

Ya that subs been through hell and back, I'm surprised it still works..lol
