First my car started and died right away. Would start and everything then drop to 1K rpms to 500rpms to non then shut off.

IT IS A MANUAL 03 VW JETTA GLI

Now it starts idles at 1.1K rpms and when i push the gas down it slowly goes up to 2K rpms....

What the heck causes this?
