So my wife wanted a little extra bump, at low cost. So i got her a cheap set up from my buddy that sounds fantastic for what it is. Its two 12" Sony Explodes that my friend bought from the Sony dealer, and a ported box-don't know the specs, sounded ok in his car with his amp. Then i bought a Phoenix Gold Octane R 500 watt amp...
I installed this in her 2002 Mazda 626, and everything worked perfectly, then when i turned the car off, about 10 seconds later... the subs went crazy just hitting in and out over and over LOUD. when the car alarm was disarmed it immediately stopped. Tried it again with the trunk open and the subs HELLA flex. Double checked the wires, took it to a shop and they tested it, and they found nothing! So as a fix i Ran a toggle switch to the remote wire, when she wants bass she hits the switch, but when she turns the car off she must turn off the switch.
Now she has a 2005 Monte Carlo SS, same setup, same problem, same fix.
WTF? Bad amp?
