Wedge box question

How do you secure the angled edges of a wedge shaped box? It seems that if you use screws they won't mount flush...

And you pre-drill the holes square to the wood they're going into, not the face piece, otherwise you get an oops....

Anybody have any pictures of this for reference? I'm pretty sure I get what you guys mean but a pic is worth a thousand words.
