While mounting my coaxial speaker to a board a washer defied the laws of physics and flew into the small gap at the center of the speaker between the voice coil and the tweeter pillar. Okay, maybe physics wasn't molested, but strong magnetic forces definitely came into play because that thing flew up into the air and arced right into the gap like a 3-point shot.
Here's the speaker in question, it's not my picture, but it illustrates what I'm talking about:
I can't access or even see where it is, but I imagine it's sitting down there between the voice coil and pillar and held down by the magnet. I've tried shaking it loose, but I don't hear anything.
I haven't tried to play it yet. I thought I'd just leave it, try it, and if I hear anything odd try to get it out. Now I'm worried I could severely damage the coil if it's in a bad spot.
What do you guys think, leave it and play it, or crack off the pillar, try to fish it out, and then hopefully rewire the tweeter?
