Was this a bad amp?

Today, I installed all the wiring and deck into my 97 blazer. Everythings all finished up and i was testing the sub it sounded awesome. I had bought a hifonics bx1500d from a person on here. it was powering a RE SX 15 in about 4 cubes. I have a stinger volt meter and i was playing late night tip and i blew a 100 amp fuse in the volt meter fuse block. I replaced the fuse and then it blew again and then my amp was smoking. Pretty sure its ****ed so yea im pretty sure it was the amp because my voltage was fine and nothing in the wiring was wrong.

those amps are known to overheat, even at the recommended ohmage level.

It could be faulty wiring, it could be the amp decided to head for greener pastures....kinda hard to tell with the minimal info you've given us.

At a guess I would say the amp decided to head to that electronics warehouse in the sky, yes...

alright yea it sucks having 175 bucks go down the shitter since im only in high school about to graduate. well gotta wait till next payday. im gonna get something with a warranty this time.

Unfortunately there are far too many tales, on here and elsewhere, of people having troubles with their monoblocks - even when they are running them no harder than the manual says they'll run!
