Wanting to get Shallow mounts

Having owned an SD-3 10 I feel comfortable saying that the SD series subs are great subs for shallow applications although they are a bit deeper than what most would consider a shallow mount driver . The JL TW3 seems to get suggested a lot as well but I do not have any first hand experience with it. Hard to say if either one of these is the best for you as that is kind of a personal thing and you offered no enclosure specs or mounting depth info. There are plenty of good shallow options but not all of them actually work all that well in tiny sealed enclosures. Are you simply limited on depth or does it have to work in a small sealed box too?

It should also be said that you have to go into this knowing it's a shallow mount driver and probably isn't going to sound the same as a previous setup with regular drivers. They won't be as loud or handle abuse as well as a normal sub. Being depth limited they usually are going to have less suspension travel and clean excursion. If you go into it thinking it's going to have the same thump and boom and as driver with a big motor in a big ported box you will be disappointed.
