ok im trying to decide on what i want to buy when i get the money. ive heard a lot of positive comments on the re xxx's and adire brahma's. ive noticed theyre about the same rms power which i think is about 1600rms. im more familiar w/ sealed boxes. dont know anything about tuning ports and all that. amp wise people have been talking about hifonics, lanzar and jl amps. now the setup im wanting is just 1 sub from one of the 2 companies above. all i need is a recommendation on what specific amp i need to power the sub and make it loud. also recommend sealed or ported and why. thanks in advanced for the help.

Edit* also will upgrading the big 3 help me not have to get a cap. i ate those things. to me theyre a waste of space and money. upgrading the big 3 w/ a high voltage alt and new optima battery. will that keep everthing working correctly?

I'm not really a bandwagon guy, but a HiFonics Brutus 1500D amp will be a good and cheap choice. Ported boxes are cool if you want SPL, but the sealed box will maintain your SQ. The Magic3/Big3 will indeed help, and you may choose to not upgrade your battery or alternator after doing so. Both the Adire/RE subs I haven't heard, but I'm sure that BOTH would be a good choice. I hear the Brahma's get better SQ, while the XXX's get insanely loud.

i dont understand why lanzar was mentioned along with JL and hifonics... aside that they all produce wattage... but really.

the hifonics and the RE XXX\adire brahma should do nicely, like stated.

they will both get lound in ported and sealed applications, but, again, as stated, louder in ported (SPL), and higher quality sound with sealed (SQ).

i would most definatly upgrade big3 with 1\0awg or 2awg. you may need an upgraded alternator. do the big3 while you wait for the money. its maybe $30~$50 from http://www.knukonceptz.com. get all your wires installed and ready, so you just have to drop your sub in your CUSTOM MADE (make the box yourself) box, and plug in the wires.

thats prolly the best way to install. work while you wait. get your boxes made and everything beforehand (or when you wait for shipping)

hey thanks guys. im pretty sure w/ the help of winisd i can get a box built. just if i go w/ a ported which is better and easier to tune a slotted or tubed port?

probably a tube port is easier to build, but if you have accurate dimensions for a slot port, an L-shaped port is pretty easy to build as well.

an L shape port would probably be the one id go w/ if i build a ported box. does anyone have any plans/dimensions to build a single box a 12" xxx or brahma. winisd doesnt show plans or anything for an L-shaped port.

haha opps i ment *hate those things. my bad lol. my friend had 3 installed in his competition car and every other day he would have to get the car jump started in order to get the car turned over. he unplugged all 3, still playing his system loud and hasnt needed to jump start his car in like 4 months.

i dont really think there is a kit for the big 3. im thinking you could just use any 0/1 gauge wireing for it. just dont forget which is positive and negative.
