Wanted loud harsh comps

why the hell would you spend 500 dollars on comps and enjoy harsh speakers? if thats all your expectations were 50 dollars would cover it
foreal, I secound the earthquake screamers, thats what they were made for.. Don't waste big money on some nice componet set if he is just going to eq them in to be harsh. Thats just me tho.

horns...won't get louder or harsher than that
agreed without eqing they can make ur ear bleed

hey now there then.
thats not nessicaraily true. i think some bullet tweets can get harsher than horns.

its all about the eq\xover\install.

my horns are mellow as can be.
true but if he likes harsh i doubt he will be doing any eqing

Have a friend that is looking for a pair of comps that is going to be very loud and he likes harsh tweeters. He's looking to spend $500 and tends to go for alpine. Any suggestions?

Remember that a lot of people that say certain brands are harsh are saying so anecdotally, and/or didn't install/tune them correctly. Almost any well-made speaker is very tunable.

Also, don't fall into the trap of dismissing metal-domed tweeters as automatically harsh. It's interesting that many of the car brands listed as shrill make incredible home speakers (Alpine excluded); so what that should tell you is that the issue isn't the drivers, rather the tuning and cabinet/install that's more critical.

if you just want to drive around with ****ing REDICULOUSLY loud music, get a few pro audio 12s. i have one of these celestion 12s in a fender amp, and holy shit. i cant even be in the same room as it when its at volume 5/10. actually sounds nice too.
