Any opinions or help appreciated.

Here is the deal. I've got this audio stuff, but not quite happy with it.

How would you set this up?

New JVC HDR1

front speakers are Rockford fanatic components 5.25 - woofers high in the doors, and tweets in the dash.

Rear deck I had Infinity 9602i 6x9's - one is now blown (and I don't know what caused it)

Trunk - a single vc punch 8" in a non ported box - properly sized.

Amps available are:

Rockford F P3001 (150w mono)

Kicker kx200.2 (50w x 2 @ 4ohm)

and an OLD Kenwood KAC644 (40w x 4)

Now I'm looking for some more 6x9s. Money is tight, and I've seen many posts about the PG RSD's, but what do you think of -

fosgate FRC2269 - $54 shipped

Audiobahn AS96v - $40 shipped

PG R69.0 $56 shipped or V690

Blaupunkt GTX or PCXB $50 + or -

Any help appreciated.

Do not by 6x9s!! dynamat your front doors and seal them if possible. if you need more power try the kenwood bridged on your component set up front get your front speakers to play clean and loudly and it will sound much better. rear fill is a waste of your time and money if you want it to sound better spend the $$ on improving your front stage. I would run your kicker to your front speakers crossed over at 80or 100Hz. If that is not loud enough for you and they can take more power try the kenwood bridged just to your front set of componets.

Actually the kenwood bridged to your components 80rms with the kicker bridged to the sub 200rms is gonna be the loudest setup you can do with availabel equipment.

Then once you have your front stage dialed try a 300rms sub that is a dual 4ohmVC ten or twelve on the Rf mono amp.

that is how I would set it up, run your crossover as high as you need on the components the 8" will play these higher frequencies, lower the crossover if the bass sounds like its coming from behind you.

don't dynamat your doors. Dynamat is too expensive. Go to SecondSkin or if you don't have much money get some edead. With that equipment sealing your doors will take too much time. If you want to use a sound deadener, this would be a great place to start: http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95925

If you want some cheap 6x9's go for some polk db's or some pioneer rev's. If you like rear fill (which some people do skateboardkid) then by all means pick up some 6x9's but don't go overboard.

I would run the kenwood bridged on the front stage just set your gains right and you will be fine.

I would not get any of the 6x9's you mentioned however.

You can get the db's for pretty cheap on ebay, they would probably be your best bet. the Rev's are little out of your range.

Definitely put the rf amp on the 8" sub though. If you wanted more bass, you could hook up the kicker amp to the 6x9's but set the gains accordingly and fade forward a little bit so that your front stage in control. Your 6x9 probably blew because it was being pushed too hard with your HU's power.

Thanks for the input guys. Though you don't agree, you've given me some good ideas.

That was a cool write up on deadening the doors. However, I do question using petroleum products in any car with leather interior. But that may have been covered in the other 10 pages I didn't read.

There is a difference in cheap speakers, and inexensive speakers. Thanks for steering me away from those I was looking at.

I'm not looking for studio quality sound, just something better than stock.

My car is 15 years old and has 261k miles on it. This picture was taken at around 235k

the leather and the petroleum products may not be good together, with proper application it will not touch the leather interior.

Polk used to make very good speakers (before DEI took them over) but the db series sound much better then stock (in my opinion). People seem to love the Pheonix Gold Rsd's as well, and that is another option to look at.

It depends on what kind of sound your looking for really. Do you want it to be in-your-face or more laid back?

I listen to many different types of music -rock, funk, Christian, even a little country. I don't crank it up all the time, but I do once in a while. I figure, between road, wind, and engine noise, I could spend TONS of money and it still not sound half as good as my home system (Denon receiver with Boston Acoustics speakers and a Definitive tech sub)

Since I hadn't planned on replacing my speakers, and money is kinda tight right here after Christmas, I had wondered if any of those cheaper speakers were any good.

From the looks of it, I may have to spend a little bit more and just get the RSD's.

Well, I might add that the Pioneer Rev (yellow cones) I just love. I have the 6x9's and recommend them any chance I get.

I'll throw that into the ring, but it looks like you already made your decision. Based on the current boner for PG RSD's, I think you made a safe bet.

But different speakers sound very different, that it why I was asking what type of music you like to listen to.
