i'm gonan get jumped for this....16 cubes is too big for those BTLs....
i'll bet you a dime to a dollar that 4.5 cubes per would be louder
Hmm... and Scott's recommendation of 8 cubes per BTL is garbage? Recommended enclosure for daily is 6-8 cubes per BTL, Scott @ Fi recommended 8 cubes per BTL in my instance.
I'll even bet you a few bucks two 15's will be louder then 2 18's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Like Tom said, he doesn't doubt it... but in all reality, I have an 18, I don't feel like reconing it... and I have the room for it. I want a loud daily, but if I have to sacrifice 1 decibel, I will (for now). If it gets to a point where I can't keep up with everyone else, I will go to 15's, no big deal.
I even said earlier in the thread that running 18's wasn't the smartest thing I could've done. But I go to local shows down here in Miami, and I get more attention then the show cars because I run an 18. Running two 18s in a wall is unheard of down here... so I felt like doing it. Regardless, it's going to be loud.

Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif So suggestion time is pretty much over, I listened, I read, I talked to a lot of people... I guess you guys will just have to see what happens.

I need to find someone down here with a TermLab so I can get you a nice video for you guys when it's all done.

Also Geoff, you're running Cactus Sounds subs now right? 15s? Not saying your suggestions were bad, but I'm just reassuring myself by saying that your setup is not at all daily... you're into the 160's and nearing 30,000 watts from what I can remember last... I'm going to be running a quarter of the power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'm using 4 18's right now.

IMO The reason why the 15s are/were louder was because of the power I was running wasn't enough to push 4 18's.

I'm not running even close to 30K watts. Remember my setup is only on 2 batteries. I tested my 8 40.1's and they only do 4000 watts RMS per pair (so 16,000 total on 2 NSB's) My highest to date is a 161.8 in SM3-4. I should be around 164+ by next years finals since this was my first season competing in db drag. Two weeks before finals was the first time ever I even used more then two amps. lol

Whats that? Something IA not doing more than rated power?

BLASPHEMY!!!

/sarcasm

Yea they only do 4000 watts with rise over 4 ohms and voltage dropping to 9.8 volts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif
Sorry, its a bit of a long story.

Bottom line is that I've gotten into fights with IA fanboys because our 20.1 didn't do more power than a 2500d or zx2500. Even running at .25 ohms.

They blamed it on mine and my teammates "incompetence" and said our "setup was wrong" or we tested wrong. Basically making up a lot of excuses as to why the 20.1 sucked.

Lol. The funny thing is that one amp can be louder on ones setup while using the same two amps can be louder on someone elses. There's too many variables (just my opinion).

Personally I would think they would be kinda close but I never tried the 2500 and the 2500 probably puts out more power since its rated 800 watts more off the bat and both are good companies.

I figured it would have been a lot closer too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

But once we posted that the zx2500 and 2500d were louder, people started having hissy fits and were saying that we were doing something wrong because the 20.1 was quieter.

I guess that people couldn't deal with the fact that the 20.1 isn't the best amp ever produced for every application?
