What would you know about my cement cracking? If you noticed in the pics the subs are touching meaning that there's only 1.5 inches on crete between woofers. Design flaw hahahaha....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif
Keep it on topic. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

P.s. Read my post right after the one with the pics. It's says don't build it this way. My design flaw was good enough to get me third this year at Drag Finals.
oh yeah ouch. i through a number out there based on the looks of the width of the cement between the sub. so it could be .75" for all i care.

the fact that the cement cracked implies that there was a design flaw. glad to hear you did pretty good with the enclosure. but still doesn't mean that your enclosure was build properly, designed to hit the numbers sure. but build to stay in one piece. for a full year of competition hum doubt full. well even if it did.

BTW we are still on subject since we are talking about the structural strength an how to improve it for his build.

FYI this is not about you. so dont take it personal.

I'll even bet you a few bucks two 15's will be louder then 2 18's. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I don't doubt it. I'm reconing my subs to 15"s for when we do my wall. Kenny just already had his 18" and doesn't want to recone it, so we're just doing two 18's for now. If it honestly turns out to be that bad, he may later.

Keep in mind, his car won't be for putting up max numbers in Dbdrag. He wants to keep this for an impressive looking, loud *** daily/bassrace that he can listen to with music everyday.

Bassrace does require that you can put up a good number with music. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Unless, of course, he wants to do the 120-129.9 class with a wall. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Seeing as how he doesn't have a battery yet, that will be the ONLY class he could compete in and keep a decent voltage. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I'd post pics of my new install in my van but there will be people bashing my insufficient designs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

But in all seriousness. When I was running my 2 IA 20.1's I lost a decibel going from 4 15's to 4 18's.

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I wanna see it. BTW, you have 40.1's right? How are they working out for you. Mine is still under my bed for a bit lol.

i promise i wont. lol

ill be building a small wall for my prelude. in the coming month or two.

just by looking at your picters i can tell that its not structuraly sound. you have about 4" between each sub. and yes even if your wall is made out of cement. doesnt mean its a solid design. flexing will acour in any enclosure that has been desing improperly no matter how much cement or mdf you use. proper bracing of the enclosure is key, making sure that there is enogh space between each sub to make the wall solid is important.

thats why your cement wall cracked. too much sub. too little space in between sub. by the look of it. im no expert so dont take this to heart. but thats just the way it looks.

here is some general info about the port placement tuning and distance for spl enclosure, like i sayed is very general. but use full at that.

man, you know im cool with you, but PLEASE dont say something i do is designed properly if its not even BUILT YET. A design flaw in the first stages of a design, is what the build grows from. We have room to play with, and yes there may only be a small area between each sub, but thats not where the wea point of the enclosure will be IMO. There are options to reduce/illiminate flexing/movement/vibration of the enclosure without screwing with sub placement. I have talked with a few people, and have looked througha few builds, and seems to me that in ALL OF THEM that te subs have been somewhat "close" to each other. Look at meades build......his subs are TOUCHING. Noone really knows where this build is going until it is being built. The pieces should be cut early this week, and assembly may have to wait a couple days, as Tom is taking a vacation.

By no means am I trying to show any disrespect to you, but we are in the early stages of design, as this picture doesnt evens how the final design, nor does it show what we will be doing to prevent certain things from happening.

Im no genious either, but I do know that vibration breaks down concrete. Bad roads? They have either been their a while (cars passing is vibration, as well as weight) and those with semi trucks regularly driving on them are even worse. Not to mention with something like that, the concrete has no "stable" backing, as something like hard packed dirt would be in real "daily" concrete work.

As I said...no disrespect, but the build hasnt even started. Yes the design/picture was posted on a public forum for critiquing, but you seem to look directly at this one thing like it will be the end all of the enclosure. 16 cubes is NOT a huge box. If we were building a van, bet your *** we would have concrete and rebarb, but its a daily/bassrace vehicle. 2x4's and all thread are a must, and we will go from there.

my comment wich you quoted was directed towards AudioAnonymous. as a responce from a comment he made.

i wont take your reply as disrespect either.

i looked through the first build and replayed about that build and how to fix the issue, then the new design was posted and i made the comment at what to me, looks like a design flaw and mentioned that it needed to be addressed and how it can be made better. there's obviously more knowledgeable people helping you out. so good luck bro.
