W7... Need i say more

The 500/1 was enough for my 10w7 sealed, and if my new ported box is much louder it will be pretty unbearable (to my ears anyway.)

hey, it's their install...if they're not concerned about dB's and competition, let them be happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

yea dude run some more power to it if u can im running my 10w6v2 off of a 500/1 but then again i did tear my surround due to exeding its xmax:p(gatta love JL's warranty)

f you blow your eardrums out with a w7 and 500 watts
I don't know about destroying eardrums, but when I put the 10" in the ported box it definitely hurt my ears pretty badly at certain frequencies.

The 500/1 can theoretically push more than 500 watts as well. I'm just not sure that it actually does because I have no way of testing. But if it can put 500 watts into 4 ohms it can put more into 3 and 1.5 respectively. Since it is capable of producing enough voltage (~44 vRMS) it could technically push 645 watts into a 3 ohm load if it can maintain a stable voltage at that given power rating. I'm not completely sure on just how strict it is on detecting the impedance of the speaker and how well it adjusts accordingly so I could be completely wrong.

Also I don't think my car is capable of handling much more than the 500/1 (90 amp alt). My headlights dim pretty badly on loud notes. Possibly under 12 volts but I don't have a DMM to test it. I'll get one from work tonight and test to make sure I don't blow my alt anytime soon.

yea ssf was off and gains were 3/4 of the way up i never looked at it i just let the guy install it and set the settings...he was new and was fired 2 weeks later

Well I just tested how low my voltage drops with the car and headlights ON while playing at almost max volume.

Edit: We did some more tests with the voltage across the battery terminals at given conditions. It doesn't seem to ever drop below 12 no matter what engine RPM nor with the headlights on.
