w7 12 is 3 ohm but my amp is 2 or 4 ohm -

This was a 13w7 custom box out of tweeter.
Well that explains it. The 13W7 is 1500rms, so I would hope it takes 1500rms all day. The 12W7 is 1000rms and it didn't like 1200rms very much. JL is one of the few brands that rates their products dead-on.

So I picked it up and drove with it pounding multiple jams from the far southwest side of Chicago to the northwest so I had a good 45 with it. I turned up my gain a bit and I can tell that it can do more. In comparison from my HO110 W6V3 10" to this new W7 12 also in JL audio ported box I would have to say this... the HO110 W6V3 had a richer , deeper bass but lacked power. This new W7 12'' in a JL ported is much louder but seems to lacks the rich deep bass that the HO had. Its only been a few minutes so its hard to tell but I do notice that the port is like 1'' wide which seems a bit thin to me. It should be at least 3 '' in my opinion. I will probably be replacing the box with a custom. So far so good but I think it needs tweaking . See the video, this is not mine but the same - this is some one elses video.

just raised the gain and its almost maxed out , this W7 is hungry for juice seems like, no clipping though. Anyway, it sounds loud as heck. The floor on my van vibrates hard - now I just need is a softer punch. Im thinking a new box can do it. Can anyone post dimensions to a box tuned to about mid 20's? hope thats not too low but I am looking for low and soft , not so punchy bass.

I hope you have plenty of space for a box. Tuning so low actually models pretty flat with 12w7 but requires a rather large box and a port with adequate area will eat up a couple cubic feet anyway all by itself.
