W6 vs. Type R

Well I currently have 3 12w6v2's. But there has been all this hype over the Type R's so I was wondering...Would 3 12" Type-R's dominate in overall output? Would it be the better buy. I work at Abt electronics so I could easily return all three W6's and get a full refund and then trade it in for 3 Type-R's but I'm just curious if thats a smart move and all? I have yet to hear the new Type-R though. So give me your input please! Each sub will be powered by it's own amp (Alpine MRD-M605 or JL Audio 500/1) //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

That is a great current set-up. I do not believe by any means that the Type R's would outdue the W6's. They have similar power needs and output. The W6 IMO is one of the best overall subs ever made and I have owned most of the best. If you went to the W7 or Brahma then you would notice a difference in SPL but the SQ would be about the same. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Type R is great for the money but keep your JL's.

Both biased opinions...But eh Thanx. Well I've heard the Type-R's in the box they have at work but thats on a wall and hell that doesn't make them shine very much.

The Type-R's can pound your brains out in the right box. Ported vs Ported, I'd say the output would go in favor of the R's. Sealed; the output would probably be pretty hand-in-hand.

However, I'd keep the W6v2's. Very, very, very nice woofers. Not many products on the market match them in sound quality, and they can get loud if you want them too.

That + 4 mtx 1501sds (~1600wrms each) was absolutly insane on rap and would make your stumach go nuts on some pantera.

well the main reason why I'm going for three is because I don't want to loose any output, comparing to my L7's, but have way better SQ
You said it yourself. Keep the dub 6's. I've heard the 12w6v2 sealed and it kicks ***, much better then a type R. Unless you want just SPL and to get louder with a ported box, then do not switch.
