W3's cutting out?

Alright so i sold my friend a pair of 12" w3v2's and a directed 1000 watt amp, and he says they recently they started cutting out. he said it happned once when he first got the system about 5 months ago. but recently his subs are cutting out at a moderate level of play. maybe around 18/45. Any of you guys have ideas on whats wrong?

told him to smell everything for something burnt but said it was fine.

????, and he said he went to a shop and they said the installation was wrong. and didnt bother to say what exactly was wrong with the installation....

but i was wondering if changing the sub levels and bass boost on your head unit would do anything?

no. if his subs are wired for 2 ohms and his amp is only rated for four, the amp will go into protect and cut out. Or if there is a bad connection or a misplaced conection (such as the remote and the + cable being switched) te amp wil cut out. Excess gain caused from dicking around wih HU settings are not the cause of cutting out, that usualy causes only clipping. Also, inadequate contact points anywhere in the wiring can cause this.

For ex, i had a fuse (just one) that would let current go through it with the ohmmmeter, but would not work in the fuse holder above a certian amp draw, it would cut power to the amp. I switched fuses and the system stopped cutting out
