Voltage Regulators?

Why do you want a voltage regulator? Most (except for a few custom HO alternators) have internal voltage regulators, so you don't need another one. Perhaps you are thinking of something else? A voltage regulator adjusts the voltage so it stays at a certain level. So, say for instance the actual output of your alternator goes from (arbitrarily) 6-18 volts, the voltage regulator would keep it at 14.5 volts.

I'm actually looking for a voltage regulator that takes 12v input and outputs 5v with about 3amps if possible. The closer to 3 amps the better, anybody have any links?

This is for a carpc usb hub in case you're wondering.
