Voltage regulator question

Can I move my alternators voltage regulator to the back of my car ie the trunk?

If not why? Does it matter how long the field wire is?

should be able to no problem, make sure you use wire at least 10guage in size for your regulator for maximum performance

oh yea and run your + ( aka sensing wire ) as close as possible to what the alt is charging directly.

the way it works is it will adjust the output of the alt according to what voltage it is getting from the + side of the reg
