voltage drop!

Ive got a old chevy with a bigger alt, nothing is power on the car, big 3 and a 100 ah bat in the back. my amp is only 1200. what can i do to keep my voltage 13+? I start as 14 but drop to 12.3 not at full tilt

Make sure you wired your subs correctly. Make sure you're using a class D amp. Get a bigger alt.

Do each sentence in order. If voltage drop is relieved to a satisfactory level, disregard the following sentences.

How about checking ALL your grounds. Make sure every ground in your system is really grounded well, everything from the battery grounds to the amp ground.

oem alt and factory battery should be able to sustain higher voltages than that, You either ****ed up a ground, or your battery/alternator is ****ed. Get them tested

none of its 6 months old. i'll get it checked. i'm thinking about putting a second alt on it. i saw a bracket for a alt that goes on the other side of the engine one day. got to love old chevy blocks. ANYHTING will fit

X2. People get batteries new that have a dead cell, so he's right, being new or 6 months old really means nothing. Go get them tested.

Thats retarded. 1200 watts and you think you need a second alternator. lol. Take all the connections you added out and then put them back in and make sure its done right. Take some pictures too and post it up and we'll tell you if its user error or not. Most of the time, its user error.
