I would highly advise against setting the gains with a DMM. I have a ghetto walmart DMM and it's very inconsistent and very inaccurate. With you having a LOC and stock headunit, things will probably not go well, especially if you say it's louder from one to the other.

Am I going to have to drive to Daytona and do this for you?

Allright. Ready for the bad news? Bad smell FROM the subs shouldnt be glue. Though they are moving quickly, there is/should be little to no interference (as if it were "rubbing"). Check your subs anyway to be safe. BUT, I would advise you to look for faulty wiring (even though it is done by an "expert") and maybe even the amps you are running. I have had a very long, exhausting time before trying to find a source of a "smell" after a kid brought his car to me. Turned out, after about half an hour of me looking, I found he had inadvertantly bought used wiring and it had a hole in it. This hole was small, but it ran under his carpeting in the trunk and was on metal... thus the smell.

took out the polyfil today....seems a little louder (hurt a little more) but still got stinky after about 15mins max of playing at my max volume
