I just came upon 2 15' kickers L7's for 325 BNIB ... bought them asap

now what kind of amps do i need to power these things? since they have a max power of 4000 watts (2000 each) do i need amps that have an rms = 4000? On the box it says power for the amps is 50-1000 rms so i dont know what that means ... anyone have some suggestions for amps and set up? should i go with individual amps for each? please be specific and thanks in advance ...

lol yeah I got a niiiiiiiiiiice deal ... but i need some real information
Max power = bull s h i t used by most likely bull s h i t companies to sell their otherwise bull s h i t merchandise.

simplified...

Max power means absolutely nothing, look at the rms.... that's what really counts, i would find an amp that will do at least 80% of the rms of both subs together at whatever ohm your running them.

you should run the two (dvc 4 ohm i'm guessing) subs at 1 ohm with one amplifier...

something like this

not to say ur wrong or anything, Max power would be a good power rating for burps.

Say max power = 2,000 watts. I would use up to a 2,000 watt amp on it for a burp for SPL comps, or even more if I want to try it. It's not exacally BS.

But yeah, rms should be the power u should be pushing the subs with (1,000 rms sub. Push it with up to 1,000 rms amp.) if ur running it daily

thanks for the responses ... so since the subs say 1000 rms ... I should look for two amps that run 1000 rms and hook up individually? and what is OHM? the sub box says 4 ohm coils? what does that mean?

yeah, i agree with you, i should have specified that it was bs for daily use. true, it does give you approxiamately the peak power for a fraction of a second, good for spl burps, but for everyday use, the peak is useless.

since you do not know what an ohm is i'm guessing you are a noob at car audio, i have nothing against noobs cause i was one once.... anyways i think you should read stuff on this site, it will answer the question you asked and many more that you will most likely ask in the future...

yeah i pretty much know nothing ... thanks for the website ... so youre telling me to run both subs off one 2000 watt amp at 1 OHM? wouldnt I need a 2 channel amp or is that something different?

^^^^ yeah i just realized i didnt word that right ... I'm still at a loss as to if i should run two seperate amps or 1 ?
heres the thing you can use two seperate amps but all that would do is cost you more money and run the chance of the subs running out of phase and risk cancellation. so go with one amp, cheaper, easier to install, less space, less cables cluttering around, less to lose if some jack as s steals your system, less weight, i could go on for a while........

Sounds like your going to have a pretty nice setup for someone who's just starting out..

When i started i had a 10" sony explode in a box that i made out of plywood, with holes drilled in it that i thought where "ports". sighh....., and pionier 6.5's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Ya, read as much as you can, it really helps.

Edit: i REALLY need to slow down on the typing:S

ok so ive been looking at amps all day ... i narrowed my search to a few but i have one more question ... since i plan on running one amp at 1 OHM for my two subs, do i need an amp that can be "bridged"?
