Duders and Dudets. This idea is inspired by a youtube video where this guy custom built a ported box that's interchangeable - sealed with an insert/plug. I have a prefab ported box in UPS transit with a 36Hz rectangular port (Belva 1SV12G) that I'd like to have the option of stuffing to seal. Granted, I haven't tested this out and the parameters are a little above manufacturer recommendations for my sub (MOFO-124x), but the option of this enclosure being completed closed was why I bought the vented box.
Nonetheless, what type of wood - or other material - would be the best for closing this vent? I'm planning on using some sort of carpet/wrap around the "vent sealer" but not sure if I should go with something as porous on the lines of MDF. Should I just buy a piece of oak and say screw it or trim some plexiglass with some snap on/snap off arrangement? This box sealed, will indefinitely need to be airtight at the outer port and can't flex more than the 3/4 MDF this box is built with.
