Vented Prefab with custom seal

Duders and Dudets. This idea is inspired by a youtube video where this guy custom built a ported box that's interchangeable - sealed with an insert/plug. I have a prefab ported box in UPS transit with a 36Hz rectangular port (Belva 1SV12G) that I'd like to have the option of stuffing to seal. Granted, I haven't tested this out and the parameters are a little above manufacturer recommendations for my sub (MOFO-124x), but the option of this enclosure being completed closed was why I bought the vented box.

Nonetheless, what type of wood - or other material - would be the best for closing this vent? I'm planning on using some sort of carpet/wrap around the "vent sealer" but not sure if I should go with something as porous on the lines of MDF. Should I just buy a piece of oak and say screw it or trim some plexiglass with some snap on/snap off arrangement? This box sealed, will indefinitely need to be airtight at the outer port and can't flex more than the 3/4 MDF this box is built with.

Why?
What are you hoping to acomplish?
A tighter bass response in the midrange lows when I listen to jazz-fusion or rock. I mostly listen to hip-hop and 90s gangster rap tho.

you should have just spent 30 bucks on a sheet of mdf/plywood and build the box yourself in the first place lol.
$30 - HA! The last week I've been scouting the cheapest lumber 'yards' for MDF and it would cost me over $75 to build the box I purchased.

Home depot should have a 4 x 8 feet for 27.99 for 3/4 mdf.... Should be enough to build a sealed box for two 15s

Gotta ask 1st if he can. Not everyone has the proper tools the rest of us have.
Read his first post if he can do all that just to seal a port, he can completely build a box. Go to home depot get it cut by them take it home, glue and screw. Any of his friends or neighbors should have a jigsaw he can use to cut a hole.

Before defending him blindly, assess his capabilities first. He is nore than capable

Sealed was an easy blueprint if I went forward with it and yes, I could drop $30 on the MDF for 1 cubic foot displacement per PA's recommendations then spend $10 on screws and $5 on glue then maybe $5 on brackets (if needed) = $50. Luckily the only tools I've had to buy for this have been some step-up bits. I live in an apt complex tho and there's no way in heck I'm exposing my install and fabs to anyone in a square mile of my neighborhood. It's a tough situation. Has anyone come up with a creative or logical answer for my original question yet?

1 cubic feet only requires a 2x2 feet sheet of wood which is 11 dollars. No need for any brackets. You blow these prices out of proportion. Seems like you are just too lazy to build one and want to ghetto rig an already built one more than anything

And so I did. But I read a bunch of questions involved. And since OP lives in an apartment, I agree. Makes it difficult to build anything w/o a garage.

Oh gosh. If I wanted a sealed rig I would have built it myself in 30 minutes.

Here's Power Acoustik's MOFO-124x specs:

Enclosure: MOFO-12 Ported

Cubic Feet 2.00

Port Diameter: 4" x 12"

Tuning 36.8hz

I've read around 100 reviews that say this sub sounds better in a ported enclosure vs sealed. The reason I posted this thread was for advice on how to seal the box I purchased in case I was in a music kick with listening to jazz or the radio or something.

A properly designed ported will play any music genre you throw at it and an sound just as good as sealed(better sometimes) however a prebuilt ported has no chance of sounding good. Manufacturers like belva, qbomb, atrend, sound ordinance, rt enterprises all have garbage box designs. Either they lie on airspace specs and tuning or they have horrible port area ratios. Dont get me started on the horrible construction job.
