I haven't bought a new vehicle in a long time (bought my Nissan Maxima new in 2001), but now I need to look at buying something new.
------------------------------------------------------
Here's what I narrowed it down to:
New 2010 Ford Escape - 3.0L V6 either FWD or 4WD (for $2,000 more)
or
Used 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo - 3.7L V6 with 20,000 miles on it. . or 30,000KM's (I'm in Canada) Both vehicles under warranty to 100,000Kms
------------------------------------------------------
Right now, I can get the Ford employee pricing as well as more trade-in value for my car. I found when test-driving that the drive was decent and comfortable for my needs.
The Grand Cherokee was available for me at a better rate of financing (2.75 interest as opposed to Ford's 6%), but the used car dealership I was looking at offered less for my trade-in and only came $1000 off of the sticker price. But the drive was much more comfortable and probably went beyond my needs (this had leather interior, navigation, sunroof, etc... The escape I might purchase didn't have any of these).
When it comes to reliability and reputation, I know nothing (haven't researched cars since 2001 when I was in the market)... but what do you guys think of these vehicles? Is there a clear choice that I should be making here... any input is appreciated.
