Used home electric wiring for speakers...

I had no choice but to split an AC power cord and use the + and - wires within for my crossover. My CDT crossovers would just not take my 12ga speaker wire i'd already run thru the car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I took the solid AC wires (not stranded) and put them in the crossover and used twist off crimps to connect them to the stranded 12ga wire. that hsould be fine, right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

wire is wire mang...so long as you dont over do it
the home wire i used is 16ga, so i think its fine. I'm sure I'll lose some SQ because its not stranded, but when you think about it, the amp output terminals are straight wire, and i think voice coils are made of solid wire.

Strip the 12 gauge wire down at the ends until it fits ...
tried that. the excess wires were making contact with the neighbor wires. It was a freakin mess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

By strip, I meant with wire strippers ... Set to 14 gague, press down on wire, and it should cut it down to 14 gauge (may not work with some strippers as they're too dull. If that's the case, cut off the excess wires with scissors.)
the distance between terminals on the Crossovers is so small that the tiny excess strands stickin out that i couldn't cut off were making contact. i ttried wrapping with electric tape but it made the wires too thick. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

Only cut the wire on the opposite side of the wire, so the strands are facing away from the connection (for the left wire, cut off wire on the left side until it fits. for the right wire, cut off wire on the right side until it fits.) ...
There would stillb e two wires in the middle:

IN -

MID -

that's why it was so complicated. i'm not tryin to sound like an idiot or anything lol, but those crossovers were a PITA. I'm pretty sure that Diamond crossovers have bigger terminals.

The marketing guys are responsible for you using wire with a pretty outside. Inside the wire is the same mostly. I think stranded will handle more amps than solid. In my line of work we use both. (Powerlines) I doubt I'd use romex for wiring up a car though. The stranded wire would seem to be easier to route.
