Use Heads unit USB 2 or Vans USB 1.1

I have an aftermarket Android head unit that has USB 2 leads. My van has a USB 1.1 (I think) in the dashboard that I used to connect my phone.

The Dashboard USB is still connected so still works to connect my Android phone for tethering, etc for Spotify, Waze and so on.

I have recently read (on head unit manufacturers website) that the USB is 2 is a much faster data tramsmitter than the Vans USB 1.1.

So, would i benefit from using the USB 2 connector direct to the head unit rather than the Vans USB 1.1.

Yes, you would likely benefit from using the USB 2.0 connector directly to your aftermarket Android head unit. Here are a few reasons why:

1. **Faster Data Transfer**: USB 2.0 supports faster data transfer rates (up to 480 Mbps) compared to USB 1.1, which has a maximum transfer rate of 12 Mbps. This means that using the USB 2.0 connection will allow for quicker access to data, smoother playback of media, and potentially quicker loading times for apps.

2. **Improved Performance**: If you're using apps like Spotify or navigating with Waze, a faster data transfer can lead to a better overall experience, with less lag when accessing music files or GPS data.

3. **Charging Speed**: USB 2.0 may also provide better charging capabilities for your device compared to USB 1.1, allowing your phone to charge faster while connected.

4. **Enhanced Features**: Some head units may offer additional features or functionalities that work better with direct connections via USB 2.0. This can include the use of control features like playing music directly from the head unit interface.

To take full advantage of these benefits, you should connect your phone directly to the USB 2.0 port on the head unit rather than relying on the van's USB 1.1 connection. Just make sure that your phone's USB settings are configured to allow for data transfer when connected.
