use cd input as aux?

I was wondering, can i use the cd player connection on my car stereo (don't actually have a cd player in the car) as an aux input? I figured it's an non-amplified signal from a cd player, so can't i just hook up a little "r/l--->headphone jack" cable and plug in my mp3 (or any source for that matter...)?

Any info in addition with the yes/no would be greatly appreciated, I wasn't allowed to drive for 2 years (brain trauma...) so i sold my car, now i got my license back and am using one of my mom's cars, but I HATE THE RADIO! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Car doesn't even have a cassette player so those adapters aren't an option either. Oh and for some reason the FM transmitter i bought isn't working either, well, the radio isn't picking up the signal...

If i could hook up my mp3 player to the system my world would be soo much brighter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
