USB/Bluetooth into a Maserati Spyder

actually I just had an epiphany, I know, doesn't happen all that often tho.

Maserati is owned by fiat, and fiat makes a few everyday cars that I happen to know there are ipod adapters for. If you could give me a nice close up shot of the radio, I can try and cross reference and see if a fiat adapter would work.

Actually, scratch all that, is this what your interior looks like?

This unit might have actually worked in another Maserati, however I'm not able to get in touch with the fellow who installed it.

Here's the Blaupunkt link:

The Blaupunkt engineer that I talked with said flatly that this unit would not work in any Blaupunkt OEM system. That seemed strange so I'm not sure he was truthful or that he just didn't want to be bothered.

No third party info at all but their web site seems to indicate that this unit will do what I want.

As for the Alpine unit, it may work. The point here is that I didn't get to be able to buy a Maserati by buying "pigs in a poke." The web sit just doesn't give enough information on where and how the unit is to be interfaced with my system.

I've not yet looked at the Kenwood unit but if it's rf modulated I'm probably not interested. I'd really like something hard wired into my system. I do want it to sound good.

The interior picture posted by starkfu is not the car I have. The receiver in the picture looks as if it could be pulled out and replaced relatively easily. My system is all built together with a video screen. I'll post a photo after I get a chance to take it.

OK, I was able to get a fairly readable photo of the "Maserati Info Center." As you can see there is no easily replaceable head unit here. It's all built in together except for the CD player which is at the other end of the center console and not worth a photo cause all that one can see is a slot to slide the CD into.

10 years ago if he had said that, he would have been lying. Today though, auto manufacturers want proprietary stuff and i would believe this to be true.

If you want more info on the alpine piece, download the manual from the site and read it, tells you most everything you want to know.

As far as the maserati interfaces, the changer plug seems to be the deal. I was on some maserati owner's forum and the denison piece seems to be the favorite. It also seems that quite a few maserati owners are in fact using the alpine piece.

here is something not suggested yet and that is, an extreme and to buy a new cd player and mount it in the glove box and then either attempt to interface it with the stock speakers or replace the speakers and you can then have the usb bluetooth setup you want. or try taking to to a high end audio shop and have them research it and work on it.
