My diagnosis: Fets blew for one reason or another, possibly the outputs, causing the mounting hardware to melt, and the heat from that alone can melt the insulation off of wire that close to it.

It looks as though you may have had a short in the board or a surge that "blew" the transistors...Again that's just how it looks to me, the melting would have came from them blowing up they get hot as hell when over loaded so a surge may have been the cause.

my 2000x is just as old from 1999 and its modded never had a problem with it. Im selling it now on ebay cuz i have other amps laying around. Great amp if you ask me.

Ampjunkielikeme is good people. I've had a few things fixed by him and he's on point every time. I'm sure he or MakeshiftAudio are good bets.
