US AGM 185 Worth it??

Not many cranking amps at all especially for the size. That's more of a deep cycle battery, not a rapid discharge battery which is ideal for car audio.

For example the NorthStar G31s we carry have 1150 CCA and 1370 CA. Most batteries made for engine starting are a better fit for audio than a battery made for deep cycling in marine/RV use or telecom.

Hmm i see. Comparing this to the odyssey extreme series it looked like a good option.

But odyssey does have larger cca and ca counts.

I would look at the odyssey performance series or northstar. The extreme series is just the performance series with a heavy duty case on it and an inflated price tag. Northstar is actually a bit more advanced although they'll perform pretty much the same.

Also be aware that Northstar and Odyssey use virgin lead (4 year warranty) versus the recycled lead in that battery. Virgin lead is better all around but a little more expensive.

Odyssey performance doesnt look so good as the biggest they have is the 31-800..

99ah, 820cca

G31s usually end up being a little more cost effective though since so many are produced for commercial vehicles.

If you went with northstar there are the big SMS series batteries but they don't have many more cranking amps than a G31.

A good battery to look at for a lot of cranking/burst power would be the XS 7500

Also I don't really believe odyssey specs. I was told the extreme and performance are the same battery in a different case to cheapen it up. Both are still virgin lead. But maybe they put less plates in the performance series?
