so my system ... 2007 ford f150 crew cab ... i have 2 Amps ' 1 for Bass 2nd for door speakers both are memphis Monoblock rated at 1 ohm 1000rms fused at 120 A its pushing my 2 AMERICAN BASS XFL 1044s at 1ohm load. my other amp its rated 200 at 4 ohm and 300 at 2 ohm i think its pushing 4 - 5x7 40 rms each. i have big 3 ofc wire , yellow top optima and all 0 gauhe ofc of power run to a cap that i had before from cap i run all 4 gauge ofc wire to both amps. i also installed a new mechman 240 alt 1 month ago. so my voltage on capacitor is 13.7 bass hits would drop 12.6 crazy idk lol ... i just order a new xs power 750 small battery and installed it 1 week ago next to the cap. i just put a new stinger voltage reader.

my question is what is the proper way to put both batteries together the guy put it red to red and seperate grounds of each battery . voltage wont drop at 3/4 of volume nomore then 13.3 from 14.2 pcm controlled. at idle. no my question is when i just turn my key to ignition mode my volt meter reads 12.7 alowly goes down to 12.4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so idk whats the problem . today i got my battery charger and put it on the front battery and optima is resting at 13.4 and the small battery is resting at 12.9 .

what is wrong i need help should i run a negative to negative wire on both batteries?

tomorrow im going to buy a multimeter to check if they set the voltage right on my stinger.

I would say so, because you want your two batteries to present to the rest of the car as one single big battery, right? Tie the batteries' + and - together and have one big battery to the alt + and - and to the rest of the car.

John Kuthe...

so i run a cable from front battery to back battery aka negative to negative then?

and is it normal that my stinger on cold starts reads 14.2 then when later on day which is like 95 f it goes 13.5? my stinger is connected to my front optima .

Some people do. I find it isn't necessary if you have good ground points right next to each battery you can connect battery - terminals to the vehicle frame and it'll do the same thing. For what you're doing I don't think running cable from - to - of each battery is going to make any difference.

Now if your batteries are resting at different voltages that may be a problem. That's why it is typically recommended that you don't mix and match battery type/model/age. Your weaker one will tend to bring down the stronger one.

i see ... but i thought you could add a second battery long *** it was the same as new one meaning AGM and 12 volt .?!

if my main battery reads with engine 14.18 , on my stinger i put 14.2? or 14.8 because the guy said it was 14.8

Get a colt meter and check them

I find it hard to believe an old optima rests at 13.4 while a new xs rests at 12.9

Also those stinger volt meters need to be set so measure the voltage at the amp and set the meter to that

And yes ditch the cap

You should be 100% fine with grounding the back battery in the rear

It's only 1300w

alright guys ' thanks so much for the answers ' let me go to walmart and buy a colt meter .. all the colt meters are the same right ... prices thats why.? and so i disconnect the stinger power cord from the battery and i put it to the amp now or i can leave it in the main battery and just set the voltage from the amp ?

got it ' tomorrow ill move the cable to the power input of the amp... i just bought a voltmeter' going to check the voltages ' yesterday at night i charges both batteries to 100% optima resting at 13.2 and xs power attery at 13.4 ' now my stinger reads 12.7 at ignition . but yeah lwt me check the amp power with the voltmeter

You need to check the amp settings if it's still dropping while playing. It should not even move
