Urban Audio works anyone hear of it

they list the max power on the amps RMS was 50x2 ....they were ok basic amps back in the day...and they did make mono amps...I've had a few but they were very low power...about 150x1 ...once me and a friend did 6 ur=ban Audio 12's in his Dakota and did a high 140 in sealed boxes on a term lab...I think we used a Cadence A7 on the 6 for that show...at .67

I had the same 2ch amp. My friend had the 4ch version along w/2 of their 12"s and 2 of their 10"s. The way it was installed, it shouldn't have worked/sounded right, but it was loud for the standards of that time. I wouldn't think it's worth all that much being that they sold at our local "Hills" store (no longer around) for about $50.00

They were built pretty strong though. I never had any issues w/mine.

I picked up one in a package deal, it was considered broken because the leg that connects the remote wire terminal to the board was broken. I went ahead and soldered some wire in, and it works great on 3/4 channels. Mine is the 4 channel version of the OP's amp, rated at 400 watts. I believe it would be near capable of 400wrms. It's a heavy motherfucker!

From what I hear though, they used the cheapest available components for the time, so they did not put out very clean power. I have not put it up to the test yet to see if that claim is true.

So anyone know what a decent asking price would be for this?

Im prolly gunna buy it off my friend just to have a back up amplifier

The worth is a tough question. I hope I'm not insulting or anything but probably around 30 bucks. I saw one on the popular auction site go for that much a few months ago.

no insult at all man, im looking for what i should offer him for the amp

I wouldn't even say $30, I'd go $20.

They are heavy due to the case/heat sink. Just because it's heavy doesn't mean it's powerful. I saw a review (~12 years ago??) and they aren't all that power wise. 50x4 and 50x2 rated @ 4ohms, did something like 75x4 and 75x2 @ 2 ohms, and was somewhere in the neighborhood of 175ish bridged. It's been a long time sense I read that and unfort I don't have that issue to look up.

I do miss mine, maybe just because that was part of the start I got in car audio?? It was a good durable amp though.

I don't know if it's that I haven't had audio in the car for three weeks or not, but this amp makes my speakers sound great if not better then th gto75.4. I took apart the JBL today and the board had no fired spots or smells I don't know what to look for to see why it goes into protect ohwell.
