Exactly im not trying to blame the seller but i dont think tht it helped it out tht a 50+ LB subs has 1" on foam to support it...so there was nothing holding the actual motor mass of the magnet? 1" of foam is not enought for a driver that has that much mass, IMHO
yea i know, but if you've never shipped a sub before, you don't really know how much packaging you are going to need.yea not ups fault that the shipper doesnt know how to package a sub..
take a look at how dd packages there speakers... 3 " of foam //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
True, though it has cost me much more than $6 to have them package something.people. i know it may not sound like the absolute best solution but they way to take all the guess work out of a insurance claim with ups is to have one of their stores pack the item. It only costs like 6.50 and everything lies on them from the time you bring the item into the store... I ship everything this way to prevent any type of dispute over packaging because being someone who has worked for most of the major shipping companies i know how shits done.. UPS loves to reject claims based upon the statment of "This item was shipped in a previously used box". Since i have started having ups pack all my stuff i have yet to have a single problem...
Dont guess i should break your heart and tell you about DHL using ups hubs/shipping vehicles since their shipping network is so small it is not economical for them to setup there own yet shoudl i?I switched to DHL,UPS is way to hard on packagesso much so its like a game to them, lets throw things around as
hard as possible-however with a magnet that heavy its clear
that the woofer was packaged incorrectly,it needed about a foot of popcorn
bewteen the woofer and the box
When you package a sub you must prevent the motor and basket from moving side to side and top to bottom. One of the best ways to do this is by making a thick foam "drop" cradle for the motor to sit in with at least 2" of high density foam under the motor and locked in to the four sides of the box with foam to prevent movement. The basket should be "locked" in a similiar manner. Broken baskets in shipping in most cases can be traced back to faulty packaging.
